DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM

The Day Treatment Program (DTP) is open four days per week, Monday through Thursday, and on occasional evenings for special activities for adults who have been diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. The goal of DTP is to provide a comfortable, low stress, supportive but structured environment where consumers can benefit from socialization, a small work program, recreational and educational opportunities, and a sense of community and belonging.

Hours: 8:30 AM to 1 PM Open as a Drop-in activity

1 PM to 3:30 or 4 PM Structured programming

Eligibility:

1) Diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness.

2) Under the care of a psychiatrist at DCP, and referred to the

program by that psychiatrist.

3) Medication compliance

Activities:

Games from 1-2 PM, M, W, Th Sheephead is very popular as well

as a counting dice game.

Work Program from 2-3:30 or 4 PM Preparation of ceramic/wood

items, many of them for seasonal use. Items are sold in-house at

our own sales and at the local Community Bazaar, at the Farmer’s

Market and other places. Profits from the sales are returned to DTP

to help defray the cost of activities. Personal projects are also

completed at times.

Meals cooked and enjoyed together.

Outings on Tuesdays to a variety of interesting places.

Educational programs on physical and mental health, living skills,

developing interests, interpersonal relationships, and mental

health Recovery concepts.

Philosophy:

Each consumer has a differing level of ability. Some task in the work program will be tailored for each person for success. Staff provide direction, supervision and reassurance. Our chosen name is “The Talent Factory,” and we live up to that title every day by sharing our talents in our work and in our support of each other.

Staffing:

DTP is staffed by 1 LPN, 1 Occupational Therapist, 1 Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and 2 individuals who specialize in Woodworking/Ceramics.
