The County Planning Department is responsible for reviewing and approving all land development outside the incorporated areas within the County. Any land division 35 acres or less is required to be reviewed and approved. Land Development

The Planning Departments review authority is spelled out in the County Subdivision Ordinance, Chapter 48 of the Fond du Lac County Code and is guided by the following purpose.

For the purpose of promoting the public health, safety and general welfare of the county, this chapter has been established to further the orderly layout and use of land; to lessen congestion of streets and highways; to secure safety from fire, panic and other dangers; to provide adequate light and air; to prevent overcrowding and undue concentration of the populace; to facilitate the adequate provision of public services including transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks, playgrounds and similar facilities and services; and to facilitate the further resubdivision of larger tracts into small parcels of land.
